Introduction

This chapter provides a brief account of how the author came to take up the daunting task of dealing with economic policy issues in the United States and Western European countries as well as Japan, and why it took a long time before he finally decided to follow the advice given by a number of eminent western central bankers and high officials of esteemed international institutions for him to write down the insights gained from his lifetime’s work in pursuit of price stabilityprice stability and economic prosperity.
