摘要

This chapter examines theNigeria possibility of the adoption of state policing in Nigeria as a model that will address some of the lingering challenges facing the integrated policing system. It argues that the extant system is defective due to certain salient and unaddressed issues including the multi-ethnic nature of Nigeria, economicpolice structure and policy concerning the posting of officers and poor funding of the institution. All these have hindered effective police operations in Nigerian communities. Consequently, there is an increasing rate of crime and criminality that have caused a serious threat to the safetysovereignty of the Nigerian state. institutionsThe paper, therefore, suggests a need to enforcementreconsider a paradigm shift in the extant system to a decentralised and more inclusive policing system.preventionapplication
