De-radicalisation, Rehabilitation and Re-integration of Ex-terrorists in Nigeria: Issues and Challenges

Studies have demonstrated that terrorismterrorism cannot be defeated solely by military force (Adeyeye in Operation Safe Corridor and the misplaced investment on terrorism, 2020; Clubb and Tapley in Third World Quarterly 39:2053–2068, 2018; Mmakwe in Awka Journal of Commercial and Property Law 9:35–45, 2022). A military force with its coercive, counterterrorismcounterterrorism tactics, has frequently had unfavourable effects by inciting greater violenceviolence and triggering humanitarianhumanitarian crises. As a result, non-military strategiesstrategies are seen as a more viable means of eradicating terrorism’s fundamentalfundamental causes and achieving a long-term peaceful end.
