Creation of Noble Metallic Nanoparticles for Cancer Therapy

Noble metallic nanoparticles are known for their superior characteristics, such as unique plasmonic properties for Au and Ag, and excellent catalytic activities for Pt. The nanomaterials comprised of single or multiple elements among Au, Ag, and Pt have been employed in vast applications, including optoelectric, catalysis, and especially cancer therapy. Due to their chemical stability nature, they present a class of nanocarriers with low toxicity and surface versatility, in combination with excellent optical properties. This chapter discusses the facile techniques in preparation of highly controlled morphologies and nanostructures of noble metallic nanoparticles, as well as the most recent achievements in combination cancer therapies in which noble metallic nanoparticles are utilized.
