Image Processing

This chapter focuses on the application of spiking neural P systems in image processing problems. Dynamic threshold neural P systems, coupled neural P systems, and nonlinear spiking neural P systems are three variants. This chapter describes how to apply the three variants to three image processing problems, including color image segmentation, multimodal image fusion, and edge detection. In order to process images, the three variants are first extended to two-dimensional variants based on local topology. Then, the corresponding processing frameworks and methods are described. Finally, these methods are evaluated in the experiments.
