It is commonly used for its purported therapeutic benefits such as hepatoprotective, cardioprotective, nephroprotective, and so on. The antimicrobial efficacy of rutin has gained significant attention in modern scientific research due to its antimicrobial properties and no reported side effects. This exertion aims to bridge the gap between traditional medicinal knowledge and contemporary understanding by concluding the current scientific evidence on rutin antimicrobial activity, through a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature, including in vitro and in vivo studies. This manifestation elucidates rutin’s potential mechanisms of action against a spectrum of pathogenic microorganisms and also highlights the challenges and opportunities in translating its antimicrobial properties into clinical applications emphasizing the importance of further research to fully harness its therapeutic potential.
