Land degradation, which is driven by various anthropogenic and natural factors, poses a significant threat to global ecosystems, impacting biodiversity and ecosystem services. The process of land degradation encompasses soil erosion, desertification, deforestation, and various other forms of land-use changes, leading to the loss of fertile topsoil and the disruption of ecological balance. As land undergoes degradation, the composition, structure, and functioning of plant communities are profoundly affected. This provides insights into the direct and indirect mechanisms through which land degradation influences floristic diversity, examining factors such as habitat fragmentation, altered nutrient cycles, and changes in microclimatic conditions.
