Standard Technique for Semi-rigid and Inflatable Penile Implants
摘要
Evaluation of individuals with erectile dysfunction (ED) begins with a comprehensive review of their medical history and a complete physical examination. Depending on the specific clinical situation, it may be prudent to perform initial screening laboratory tests in patients with ED to rule out any associated conditions such as diabetes mellitus (DM). Despite the existence of specialized tests such as imaging, their utility is limited, and they should only be considered in specific exceptional circumstances as opposed to being routinely recommended. Nevertheless, when dealing with complex history, it is advisable to consider further assessments, such as penile duplex ultrasound, especially if one contemplates a non-reversible procedure such as the insertion of a penile implant [1–3].
