Flaps in Bulbar Urethroplasty
摘要
Flap surgery involves the transplantation of a tissue segment, with its maintained blood supply, from one part of the body to another. After years of being antiquated, flaps have returned to reconstructive urological practice and are now a particular cornerstone for bulbar urethroplasty. Certainly, the buccal mucosal graft (BMG) has indispensable benefits, but there are fundamental limitations in its lack of native vascularization and its short supply. Flaps are well equipped in both these areas. They come self-sufficient with arterial supply, and therefore, large sections of tissue can be mobilized. Flaps provide a suitable solution when these qualities are necessitated.
