Cataract Surgery in Community
摘要
Cataract continues to be one of the leading causes of visual impairment. It is estimated that there are more than 94 million cataract patients globally. According to WHO, only 17% of the people with vision impairment due to cataract have received access to an appropriate intervention.Cataracts are surgically treatable with safe, efficient, cost-effective, and predictable techniques. The World Bank has classified cataract surgery as the most cost-effective health intervention. When cataract surgery in the community is discussed, it should be considered a system. It involves dealing with several barriers such as economic constraints, transportation, logistics, quality assurance, and inventory issues. This chapter deals with delivery of high quality cataract surgery at the community level.
