It reappeared in 2000 to address the lofty objective of “redesigning life”. Sustainability is essential in today’s ecological crisis. Synthetic biology promises creative answers, making its sustainability implications crucial. This article examines how synthetic biology innovations and applications might solve environmental issues. The ability to design life raises serious ethical considerations about our role as environmental stewards. This article examines synthetic biology’s environmental effect and prospects for sustainability across industries. Though transformational, these advances raise biosafety, biodiversity, and socioeconomic ethical issues. By untangling the complex relationship between synthetic biology and sustainability, we can create a future where scientific advances coexist with the preservation of our planet’s delicate ecosystem, demonstrating human ingenuity and ethical awareness.
