Agro-Biotechnology: A Rescue Against World Hunger
摘要
Agro-biotechnology refers to the application of biotechnology in the field of agriculture, combining scientific knowledge from various disciplines. Agricultural biotechnology is the use of new scientific techniques based on our understanding of DNA to improve crops that are not possible with conventional breeding alone. The diverse techniques of agro-biotechnology are based on biological sciences such as genetics, physiology, microbiology, biochemistry, molecular, and cell biology. One of the primary goals of agro-biotechnology is to enhance food production to meet the increasing demands of a growing global population. With the global population continuously growing and agricultural resources facing unprecedented challenges, it has become imperative to explore innovative approaches to enhance food production while ensuring sustainability and environmental stewardship. In the present world scenario, agro-biotechnology has emerged as a potential solution and effective technology to address the pressing issue of world hunger. By leveraging advancements in biotechnology, researchers and scientists can develop crops that are more resistant to biotic and abiotic stress. This chapter delves into the realm of agro-biotechnology and recent advances made in the field while considering the present global demand for agricultural produce.
