Synthesis of Coumarins by Pechmann Condensation Using Nano-ferrites

Nanosized nickel ferrite particles were synthesized by the co-precipitation method and characterized by XRD, EDAX, SEM, and magnetic coercivity measurements. SEM images indicate the formation of nanometre-sized quasi-spherical particles in the mixed ferrites and EDAX images show the presence of metal NPs and oxygen present. This article evidenced the application of magnetic nickel ferrite nanoparticles as an efficient recyclable catalyst for coumarin ring synthesis. The use of the metal ferrite catalyst is illustrated in the synthesis of coumarin by the Pechmann condensation.
