摘要

Schiff base ligands (SBL) and its metal complexes have made a significant contribution to chemistry. SBL are unique due to their formation from aldehyde/ketone and amines derivatives by condensation process. They are thought of as a significant class of organic compounds due to their chelating properties and capacity to coordinate with transition metal ions in different oxidation states forming stable complexes. Owing to broad range of biological actions, these compounds are extremely vital in the medical and pharmaceutical fields. SBL are also used as dyes, pigments, agrochemicals, corrosion inhibitors, polymeric stabilizers, nanomaterials, and effective asymmetric synthesis catalysts. This review covers the synthetic route of various SBL along with the antibacterial, antifungal, and anticancer potential of their Co(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) coordinated metal complexes.
