Bioactive Heterocyclic Analogs as Antifungal Agents: Recent Advances and Future Aspects
摘要
Research for antifungal medications has advanced dramatically in recent years focusing on the development of more efficacious novel compounds. With few available treatments and increasing risk of drug resistance, fungal infections pose severe danger to world health. The discovery of antifungal drugs based on bioactive heterocycles has made significant strides. This chapter discusses these advancements and future goals. The understanding of fungal biology and the detection of new therapeutic targets, which has opened the doors to the design and synthesis of bioactive heterocyclic compounds with powerful antifungal effects, are among the major advancements covered in this chapter. At present, there are a larger number of antifungal medicines available, thanks to synthetic and natural sources, providing effective alternatives to traditional treatments. Finally, current developments in the bioactive heterocycle-based antifungal compounds raise the possibility of more potent and secure therapies for fungal infections. The chapter highlights how these advancements have the ability to solve the challenging problems triggered by fungal infections and improve the quality of patient lives around the world.
