Here is an excerpt: “Almost everyone, given the chance, likes to be a dictator, or over time tends to be like a dictator (cf Milgram, 1963, 1974). Leading groups of people like to dictate all things to all others. Any group put in charge will, given time, sooner or later, behave like this. Any common human-made institution or set of institution will also behave like this, if given the chance, and time. The welfare state is no exception. It ever more finds ways to tell all people what to do; except the very rich and the very powerful. The power elites (as their name indicates) find ways, and always have, and always will, to influence, change to their advantage and prevent or alter for them unfavorable conditions—with regard to financing mechanisms, taxations, punishments, benefits, laws, rulings, rules, regulations, institutions, policies and programs; any of them, all of them. The welfare state of today is a system that controls, and not one that liberates as early proponents and followers had in mind; the same is true with most churches and religions, or political liberation movements.”
