Back to Quantum Methodology (Again)

This part of the book comprises a series of independent entries. Here is an excerpt: “As we have just established, when it comes to methodology, randomness is fuzzy randomness and not true randomness (the lottery kind). Fuzzy randomness is more or less randomness, it serves a purpose, to enable the answering of the research question. Randomness is not used because of a philosophical choice, and not for beauty either. Its beauty lays in its usefulness, the practicability of it, to contribute to and to enable a certain research goal. There is always a plan, the research goal. The choice of what comes next within the process of research, to be clear, is part of the process of one’s research work, that shall be reasonably random, as it serves the purpose and goal of spreading out and capturing not just the obvious, the normal, the average case, example or phenomena under scrutiny, but also as many outlayers as possible—in order to find new gold, new eye-opening revelations and creative solutions, new ideas and new knowledge (cf Aristotle cited in Baumann, 2008).”
