A particular effort is made, through the selection of these articles, to map for the reader some of the divisions amongst scholars, policy-makers and practitioners in relation to what constitutes ‘good’ civics and citizenship education—and also the efforts that have been made to bridge these practical and philosophical divisions. Needless to say, some of these debates can be quite strongly contested!
