Medical professionals widely recognize the utility of MRI in obstetrics and gynecology. However, there is still a lack of understanding among referring physicians regarding the appropriate use of MRI, particularly the use of contrast medium. With the increase of regional medical collaboration, external private physicians lacking up-to-date knowledge of imaging can directly request CT/MR examinations at a hospital. A similar issue happens within the hospital. Using electronic ordering systems, attending physicians can order imaging examinations directly from the radiology department, and technologists perform the requested exam. Consequently, radiologists often realize examinations have been inappropriately conducted based on an incorrect order only when they begin image interpretation. Questions like “why was this examination performed?” or “why was contrast administered or not?” often arise after the examination has been carried out and the images have been sent to the diagnostic imaging physician.
