摘要

Embarking on a journey through the confluence of sustainability and material science, this chapter unveils the innovative extraction and formulation of biopolymers from marine green algae, a promising and abundant feedstock for bioplastic production. Addressing the limitations of other biomass sources, marine green algae emerge as a biocompatible alternative to conventional plastics, offering solutions to mitigate plastic pollution. This exploration delves into various extraction methods including isolation of biopolymers and both direct and indirect production techniques, the physicochemical properties, applications, and environmental impacts of algae-derived bioplastics. Furthermore, it acknowledges the current production and usage challenges, providing insights into their prospective role in shaping a sustainable future. Through a comprehensive examination of these aspects, this chapter underscores the transformative potential of marine green algae-derived bioplastics in advancing sustainable technologies and contributing to global environmental conservation efforts.
