A Novel Approach Utilizing Local Criteria Weights for Multi-criteria Evaluation Within the SPOTIS Method

This paper addresses the complexity of decision-making processes by introducing a novel approach that employs local criteria weights for each alternative, challenging conventional methodologies reliant on uniform weight vectors. The study comprehensively applies this novel approach within the Stable Preference Ordering Towards Ideal Solution (SPOTIS) method, specifically evaluating hydrogen cars. Unlike traditional approaches, which employ identical criteria weights for all decision variants, the proposed approach reflects practical scenarios where stakeholders assess alternatives with unique perspectives. This enhances the model’s robustness and fosters flexibility, reducing bias risks and providing a versatile tool for diverse decision-making methodologies. Extensive exploration of various decision-making methods and criteria weight combinations establishes a high correlation between the Characteristic Objects Method (COMET) model and the method with local weights. This correlation underscores the adaptability and reliability of the approach, accommodating diverse stakeholder perspectives and mitigating bias risks in decision outcomes.
