Finite Element Analysis of Sandwich Composite Plate with Viscoelastic Frequency-Dependent Damped Core

The modal analysis of sandwich composite plate with viscoelastic core is performed by implementing finite element-based method (FEM). ANSYS APDL software is used to model and analyze the sandwich composite plate. The discretization of the sandwich plate is carried out via four nodded SHELL181 elements by implementing Block Lanczos scheme. For determining the behavior of the plate, a damped behavior analysis of the sandwich plate in frequency domain is done. Also, generalized Maxwell damping model in terms of Prony series is adopted for modeling of viscoelastic behavior of the core. The frequency response of the viscoelastic core plate is obtained by determining the frequency-dependent properties of the core plate, and additionally the modal damping ratio of the sandwich composite is obtained.
