Multi-objective Optimization of WEDM Process Parameters for TiNi Shape Memory Alloy
摘要
In today's market, there is a need for new manufacturing technology for development of new products. TiNi shape memory alloy (SMA) also called as smart alloy is a demanding material in different industrial areas such as bio-medical field, defense field, and aircraft field due to its good corrosion resistance property, maximum strength, good shape recovery property, etc. Due to its different unique property, by using traditional techniques, it is challenging to machine such material. To do machining, different non-conventional methods are there. For the current research work, machining of Ni50Ti50 material is carried out by using wire electric discharge machining (WEDM). Effect of different machining process variables like voltage, pulse on/off time, current, and wire feed on the responses such as surface roughness (SR), material removal rate (MRR), dimensional deviation (DD), and kerf width (kW) has studied. To do an optimization, combined Taguchi mixed-mode L18 orthogonal array (OA) with (GRA) gray relational analysis is used. Taguchi approach is used to construct OA and run the experiments according to OA. Finding out the impact of each process parameter on responses is done using the analysis of variance (ANOVA) technique.
