摘要

With industrial and technological growth, the rate of metal evolution also enlarged. The eye of the researchers has always been stuck on the scanning of new metallic materials since each passing year. For this reason, they started to investigate the chemical composition of alloys. In this series, the concept of a multicomponent system came into the picture. High entropy alloys have at least five metallic elements with an equal or near-equal atomic percentage of composition between 5 and 35%. The high entropy alloy system must have the configurational entropy greater than 1.61R (R = gas constant). This article reviewed the history of multicomponent alloys, definition, and classification of high entropy alloys (based on phases, configuration, and applications), core effects of high entropy alloys, compositional design of high entropy materials (including thermodynamic and kinetic theory, forming criteria of high entropy alloys).
