The main objective of this study is to establish a comprehensive conceptual framework to examine the impact of the 7E learning cycle on the academic achievement and retention of students of technical colleges specializing in motor vehicle mechanic work in Kano State. Maintaining automotive mechanic skills is critical for students of technical colleges in Kano State, Nigeria, to ensure that they can effectively apply their knowledge in real-world motor vehicle repair and maintenance scenarios, contributing to their employability and the overall quality of the workforce in the region contributes to the automotive industry. This research approach involved a thorough review of philosophical concepts from a wide range of literature that served as guiding principles for our research and laid the foundation for data collection, analysis, interpretation, and synthesis. As part of this research, we carefully examined key constructs including academic achievement, retention, working as a motor vehicle mechanic, and the 7E model. The 7E model includes important elements such as identifying, explaining, elaborating, evaluating, and investigating, among others. The primary focus was to examine how the implementation of the 7E model, particularly in the context of teaching motor vehicle mechanics work, affects students’ academic achievement and their ability to retain knowledge. We highlighted the interdependence between the 7E model and the development of motor vehicle mechanic skills, with academic achievement and retention serving as central aspects of the researcher’s investigation. The research design was based on the literature synthesis method, with data collection focused on the core constructs of the study, particularly the 7E model and motor vehicle mechanic work, with particular emphasis on steering and suspension systems. The research ambition was tailored to assess the academic achievement and retention rates of college students, with the aim of ultimately anchoring the study on a solid conceptual basis. The goal of this foundation is to provide motor vehicle mechanics students with the knowledge and skills essential for success in the modern workshop and industrial environment.
