Augmented reality (AR) is gaining traction as a potent medium to bolster student engagement and learning across diverse educational landscapes, especially in subjects requiring visual-spatial comprehension or practical involvement. Despite its promise, several hurdles, notably technological readiness, cost implications, and the nuances of teacher training, temper its widespread adoption. This systematic review, encompassing 50 pertinent studies, delves into AR’s application in specific educational levels and subjects. It aims to gauge its efficacy in amplifying classroom learning experiences and discerning the pivotal determinants of its triumphant execution or potential shortfalls. The systematic review conducted in the study utilised a rigorous methodology that involved sifting through 50 relevant studies based on precise criteria. The studies were then subjected to a structured protocol for data management that spanned extraction, quality appraisal, synthesis, and bias evaluation. This approach ensured that the synthesis of the studies was comprehensive and accurate, enabling the researchers to glean insights into the efficacy of AR in enhancing student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. The studies were sifted based on precise criteria, followed by a structured protocol for data management that spanned extraction, quality appraisal, synthesis, and bias evaluation. The synthesis revealed AR’s potential to elevate student engagement, motivation, and learning outcomes. However, the need for robust teacher support, technological preparedness, and a holistic evaluation of AR’s cost-effectiveness emerged as undeniable imperatives. While AR stands poised as a transformative instrument in education, its seamless and productive integration mandates strategic planning and resolution of extant challenges. This study underscores the urgency to address these barriers, ensuring AR’s smooth integration into contemporary educational frameworks.

摘要
