Severe Valgus Deformity

Valgus knee, defined as a knee with a preoperative valgus angle greater than 10° [1–3], can be caused by rheumatoid arthritis, posttraumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, arthropathic changes associated with hip joint disease (coxitis knee), or metabolic bone disease. The frequency of its occurrence is approximately 10–15% in cases requiring total knee arthroplasty (TKA) [4, 5]. Severe valgus knee, defined as a knee with a preoperative valgus angle greater than 20° [5, 6], comprises approximately 5% of all cases of valgus knee [7].
