Improving Patient Satisfaction

TKA is a well-established surgical treatment for advanced knee OA and RA, providing pain relief and functional recovery to patients. It is expected to reduce complications and further improve the long-term implant survival rate by enhancing surgical techniques and implant designs. However, approximately 20% of patients who underwent TKA are not satisfied with the surgical outcomes [1, 2], and patient satisfaction is lower than that of total hip arthroplasty [3]. Conventionally, outcomes are objectively evaluated by surgeons. Given the discrepancy between surgeon and patient evaluations [4], subjective evaluations, such as patient-reported outcomes and patient satisfaction, have become widely used among surgeons.
