摘要

Currently, several countries worldwide have an aging population [1], and the rate of OA is increasing accordingly. Epidemiological studies of knee and hip osteoarthritis in 195 countries worldwide have shown that the prevalence and annual incidence rates of knee and hip osteoarthritis have increased by 9.3% and 8.2%, respectively, from 1990 to 2017, with an estimated 303.1 million people suffering from knee and hip osteoarthritis in 2017 [2]. Although various treatment methods are available for OA, total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a well-established treatment for end-stage OA owing to its superior pain relief and improvement in knee joint function. As the number of patients with OA is expected to increase in the future, the number of TKA cases is also expected to increase.
