Evaluation of Soft Tissue Balance

Since there has been no standard quantitative measurement method, the acquisition of appropriate soft tissue balance in TKA largely depends on the experience and skill of the surgeon, and it is still largely unsolved. A new offset type tensor was developed to enable quantitative measurement of soft tissue balance throughout the ROM with reproducible physiological joint condition, i.e., with femoral trial component and reduced patello-femoral joint. We present several important findings to improve soft tissue balancing in TKA.
