TKA Development in Japan: Hy-Flex II Total Knee and Ligament Balancing System

Currently, more than 80% of the implants used by TKA in Japan were designed in Europe and the United States. However, several original implants from Japan have been developed thus far. Among them, Hy-Flex II Total Knee and Ligament Balancing System by Professor Emeritus Shinichi Yoshino of Nippon Medical School was the TKA implants designed to achieve deep knee flexion and stable soft tissue balance, with a focus on the Japanese lifestyle.
