Cement Fixation
摘要
The fixation method is an important factor that affects the clinical outcomes of TKA. Bone cementation is a technique used for fixation. Bone cement (PMMA) primarily used in orthopedics for implant fixation. In 1960, Charnley used cement fixation for femoral implants and reported good results [1]. Since then, cement fixation has become the typical fixation method used in joint replacement surgery. In particular, cement fixation has many advantages in TKA, including the ability to cover irregularities and imperfections in the osteotomy surface and to obtain firm initial fixation. However, aseptic loosening has been reported to occur between the implant-cement interface and cement-bone interface [2, 3]. Therefore, it is important to fully understand the types and characteristics of bone cement used in cement TKA and to learn the techniques of cement fixation. Understanding the effects of cement fixation on the human body is also essential.
