TKA Development in Japan: Quest Knee

The MERA Quest Knee System (Senko Medical Instrument Mfg. CO., LTD., Tokyo, Japan) is a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) implant developed based on the concept of adapting to the anatomical shape of the Japanese knee joint, supporting deep knee flexion, and acquiring long-term durability owing to low polyethylene wear (Fig. 12.1). Prioritization of the development of a cruciate retaining (CR) design and its clinical application started in October 2009, and Quest Knee has been used in approximately 1600 cases in Japan. In this section, we describe its design features and clinical results at Ehime University Hospital.
