Polyporoid, Hydnaceous & Thelephoroid Fungi 2: Species with Names Beginning with C–E

Basidiocarps annual, resupinate, inseparable from substrate, without odour, leathery to soft corky when fresh, hard corky or hard fibrous when dried, up to 20 cm long, 3.5 cm wide, and 2 mm thick. Pore surface cinnamon to dark brown, not shining; pores subcircular, angular, irregular or lacerate, 1–2 per mm; dissepiments thin, entire to lacerate. Sterile margin conspicuous, cream to earthy yellow, up to 1.5 mm wide. Context hard corky when dried, concolourous with pore surface, up to 1 mm thick. Tubes concolourous with pore surface, hard fibrous when dried, up to 1 mm deep. Basidiospores 6.4–8.9 × 2.3–3 μm, botuliform, hyaline, thin-walled, smooth, inamyloid, acyanophilic.
