Previous Research on Remarriage in Japan
摘要
The reemergence of divorce and remarriage as a common lifecourse experiences in Japan is relatively recent and demographic analyses of trends and correlates remain relatively limited. Our goal in this chapter is to provide a brief overview of the small body of recent research on remarriage in Japan. We hope that this summary of existing knowledge, in conjunction with our descriptive summary of available data on levels and patterns of remarriage in subsequent chapters, will provide a contextual and empirical foundation upon which social scientists can build an active research agenda on remarriage in contemporary Japan.
