Trust-Based Compromised Node Identification and Enhancement of Network Lifetime Using Alternate Path in a Wireless Sensor Network

Compromised node identification in a wireless sensor network (WSN) is crucial for ensuring reliable communication. Different trust models have been proposed in the literature for computing trust associated with each node in the WSN environment. In this paper, we propose a model to identify compromised nodes based on the estimated trust value and then select the route using alternate path to avoid the compromised nodes and enhance the network lifetime of the WSN. We conducted exhaustive simulation experiments by varying the number of nodes, percentage of nodes which can become reliable, number of sinks etc. Results show that our proposed method is able to enhance the network lifetime and also increase the packet delivery ratio.
