Academic Degree Verification Using Blockchain Technology

摘要

Degree certificate verification is a crucial process to confirm the academic credentials of students who have successfully graduated. However, this process can be time-consuming and expensive for universities, as they spend tens and thousands of dollars each year on processing degree verification requests. To improve the degree verification procedure, some blockchain-based solutions have been proposed. Although these solutions can eliminate the cost of degree verification, they often require modification of the current workflow for awarding degrees. To overcome the limitations mentioned, we suggest a solution that smoothly integrates into the current degree issuance process by operating with the original hard copies of the degree documents. Our system uses data extraction to achieve this and stores the hash value of each degree document’s content in the blockchain. Additionally, our system supports bulk submission of degree information for both recent and past graduates, a feature that is not present in current systems.
