Highly Sensitive Biochemical Sensor Based on Nanophotonic Ring Resonator
摘要
We propose a high-sensitivity biochemical sensor that utilizes a nanophotonic ring resonator based on slotted hybrid plasmonic waveguide (HPW) technology. The engineered ring resonator helps to enhance the sensing performance, achieving a sensitivity of 1609 nm/RIU in detecting changes in the refractive index (RI) of analyte from pure water (1.333) to polluted water (1.3514). Additionally, slotted HPW used in engineered ring resonator offers a longer propagation length more than 2 mm at a nanoscale of 1.55 μm. This CMOS-compatible engineered nanophotonic device is suitable for on-chip label-free biochemical diagnosis, as well as large-scale photonic integration.
