Where Will Separation Lead? The Humanitarian Crisis in Gaza and Future Prospects

The cross-border attack by Palestinian militants on October 7, 2023, gravely disrupted Israel’s security policy of closing the Gaza Strip altogether with the Palestinian militant groups. The Israeli severe blockade of the Gaza Strip began in the 2000s as part of a policy of separation that separates Palestinian society from Israel in economic and physical meanings. However, as Israel’s war on the Gaza Strip spills over into other parts of the Middle East, paradoxically, the Gaza Strip has come to show its connection to the world. As Israel’s attacks on Gaza continue, this chapter will review past cases and examine the prospects for the future.
