A Framework for Multi-technology Gateway Management Approach Based on Handover Decision for IoT

The world is now shifting toward an interconnected future and IoT devices will play an important role in this shift. These devices are connected together to exchange data or information from one device to another device over the internet. However, these devices face connectivity challenges due to their heterogeneity and mobility. To ensure a seamless connectivity between these devices, there is an urgent requirement for effective gateway management mechanisms. Thus, to address this challenge, this paper proposes a framework for multi-technology gateway management approach for IoT devices. Gateway plays an important role in IoT as they are used for converting different protocols and provide better communication between different IoT devices. The proposed framework uses IoT gateways and Solution Specific Gateways for optimal gateway placement using Context-aware handover decision. The optimal management of gateways is required to make sure better battery life, reduce overall cost, Scalability and maximize the efficiency of the network. This paper will provide the idea for placing the gateways in an optimal manner so that they can provide results in better way. In order to enhance the functionality of the IoT network, some factors like optimal gateway placement, throughput, and energy consumption are examined in this paper.
