摘要

China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has contributed to the view of international trade from a recognized perspective. There were two perspectives presented in this study regarding China and Bangladesh's bilateral trade relationship: firstly, a strategic advantage of the two countries resulting from the sharing of the interconnected roads and maritime facilities; and secondly, the economic impact of this initiative on bilateral trade relationships. Qualitative and quantitative methods were employed by the researcher to achieve both objectives. The paper also analyzes related theories to assess the theoretical perspectives on bilateral trade relations. Existing literatures have identified that both countries have many positive outcomes from trade with their neighbors. The result of this is an increase in bilateral trade. A gravity model was used to determine the economic outcome. BRI has a significant and positive impact on trade between China and Bangladesh based on the results of multiple linear regression of the gravity model. Furthermore, some challenges must be overcome to achieve a successful economic and strategic outcome. For a more comprehensive understanding of Bangladesh-China bilateral trade, the researcher conducted a SWOT analysis (Strengths Weaknesses Opportunities, and Threats). Finally, the study concluded with some specific recommendations for Bangladesh and China to achieve a greater level of strategic and economic success.
