Trade Between Bangladesh and China: Challenges and Opportunities
摘要
The study aims to examine the present status of international trade, opportunities, and challenges between Bangladesh and China. Both primary data such as personal interviews of the businessman and secondary data will be taken for greater validity of the study. Bangladesh exports to China only 1 billion dollars and imports from China more than 25 billion dollars. Bangladesh and China can take many initiatives to reduce huge trade deficits such as 98% duty-free commodities export, trade liberalization based on comparative advantages, labor-intensive facilities, bilateral negotiation, and so on. Bangladesh can also provide service in some sectors to China where labor costs are very high. It is very important to identify the trade opportunities between two countries as these opportunities will bring benefit for both countries. While Bangladesh is a labor-intensive country China promotes technology. The two countries will benefit if they sign a bilateral trade treaty and memorandum of understanding (MOU). We examined the impact of possible measures on trade relations by applying qualitative and quantitative approaches. An Econometrics model has been applied for the numerical reliability of the study.
