Bangladesh at 50: Bangladesh-China Bilateral Relations in the 21st Century
摘要
This chapter examines the dynamics of Bangladesh and China's bilateral ties in the twenty-first century. The ancient cultures and histories of the two nations are distinct, but they have a common idea. From geostrategic and geo-economic perspectives, the nations require a strong bilateral partnership to foster growth. The chapter demonstrates the broad and profound understanding between the two nations, China, a growing global power, and Bangladesh, one of the tigers of Asia. Based on secondary sources, it describes the evolution of bilateral relations between China and Bangladesh, Beijing's desire to deepen ties with South Asian nations and interest in the Bay of Bengal region. It also describes how China maintains links with Bangladesh in the areas of economic, political, cultural, military, infrastructural, and energy cooperation to reduce Bangladesh's reliance on Western nations. The paper is also intended to present the existing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China.
