Implementation of Wavelet Transform Analysis Filter Using FPGA

摘要

The Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) is one of the most important and powerful tools in the field of digital processing, which is used in various applications such as sound, image, and video coding, biometrics, pattern recognition, and data mining. In this paper, we present an efficient hardware architecture for the wavelet transform analysis filters. The proposed architecture was simulated and synthesized using Quartus. Implemented on DE2 FPGA board with Cyclone II family, EP2C35F672C6 device. A comparative study revealed that the proposed architecture is effective for improving the hardware architecture for analysisLe Gall 5/3 filter. Implementation results show the advantages of our architecture in terms of low latency, low area, and less complexity.
