Research Challenges and Future Perspectives

This book presents an in-depth exploration of the digital twin concept applied to the research vessel Gunnerus and associated research endeavors. Comprehensive coverage is provided on key technologies such as co-simulation, component modeling, data transfer mechanisms, and tool utilization. To realize a digital twin for complex marine operations, we have embraced an architectural approach and conceptual framework utilizing an open model and simulator platform. The Gunnerus digital twin prototype is the culmination of expertise from diverse disciplines, including sensor technology, artificial intelligence, computer science, and maritime industry knowledge.
