Arsenic and Iron Removal from Groundwater Using Indigenously Developed Ceramic Membranes
摘要
CSIR-Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute, Kolkata, India had developed a new technology for simultaneous removal of Arsenic and Iron from contaminated groundwater using indigenously developed ceramic membranes. This technology is based on adsorption of Arsenic on suspended colloidal and subsequent separation of Arsenic and Iron to produce quality drinking water. The technology had been verified in pilot scale and then demonstration scale before commercialisation took place. Till date, 250 plants have been installed out of which 150 plants are for simultaneous removal of Arsenic and Iron from groundwater and rest are only Iron removal plants as the groundwater at the locations of these plants is devoid of Arsenic but Iron contaminations are found.
