Role of Exciton–Biexciton Population Distribution in Single Photon Emission Statistics of Semiconducting Colloidal Quantum Wells

Solid state emitters as single photon sources have instigated interest as bright sources to generate single photons for various applications, e.g., Quantum Computation and Teleportation. Among them, colloidal quantum emitters are acknowledged for their scalability and ease of handling. Here we have studied the room temperature behaviour of the single photon emission from colloidal semiconducting quantum emitters. We have studied antibunching behaviour from colloidal quantum well emitters, and checked their spontaneous decay dynamics and also the pump power dependent behaviour of the autocorrelation function at zero delay, which correlates the statistical properties of emissions from Excitons and Biexcitons. We have highlighted possibilities related to these observations as well as the possibility to manipulate Dark Exciton states as a metastable state for generation of entangled photon pairs out of these quantum wells.
