Characterization of Single Photon Detector and Its Quenching Circuit Analysis
摘要
The single photon avalanche detector (SPAD) is an important tool for its high sensitivity, much low dead time, less weight, and low consumption of power. This avalanche photodiode working on Geiger mode can be used in many applications starting from quantum cryptography, and lidar to particle characterization through scattering. This paper first proposes the comprehensive analysis of the multilayer structure of the avalanche photodiode grown on GaAs n+ substrate used for the detection. Then, an analytical, accurate circuit simulation model for the device is proposed. Also, future improvements concerning quenching techniques are discussed.
