摘要

Metasurfaces, a two-dimensional array of ultra-thin artificially engineered nanoscale unit-cells or ‘meta-atoms’, have gained immense attention in recent years for realization of tailorable dynamic nanophotonic components. In this study, we propose an electrically tunable polarization-insensitive metasurface for optical intensity modulation by leveraging guided-mode resonance effect combined with epsilon-near-zero phenomenon. The presented metasurface exhibits ~25 dB modulation depth at 1.55 µm wavelength for both TE- and TM-polarized incident waves while maintaining ~387 MHz modulation bandwidth.
