Distribution of Oil and Gas Resources in Central Asia

The Central Asia includes Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia and other countries. Eighteen oil and gas-bearing basins have developed in Central Asia, covering a total area of 416.29 × 104 km2. The total area of onshore sedimentary basins in Central Asia is about 277.0 × 104 km2, and that of offshore sedimentary basins is about 33.2 × 104 km2. About 4.9% of the world’s oil and gas resources are distributed across Central Asia. The total recoverable oil and gas resources in Central Asia amount to 924.3 × 108 tons of oil equivalent.
